She is survived by her husband, James Olmstead; children, Shaleena and Matthew Sayilik, Brandon and Adrianne Schmitt, David Olmstead; grandchildren, Taylor, Adriana, Kristen, Bryce; father, Robert II and Jan Corrigan; brother, Robert III and Katherine Corrigan, Keith Corrigan, Scott Corrigan; parents in law, Ardis and Lita Olmstead; several in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Akins officiating. Burial of her cremains will be held on July 1, in Brevort Cemetery, west of St. Ignace, MI. WEGAL (Kent City) Franklin Eugene Wegal age 85 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods. Franklin was born on December 3, 1927 to Ernest Gustav and Elizabeth Anna Wegal. He served his country during Korea in the U.S. Army. He was born on the family dairy farm that he ran where he and his wife still live. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; daughter, Julie and David Johnson; granddaughter, Brittany Johnson and her fiancé, Ryan Hanna; his sister, Mary Anne and Cliff Spangenberg; brother in law, Ward and Delora Johnson; many cousins; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 11:00 A.M. at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church with Rev. Leonard Dahlgren officiating. Interment in Idlewild Cemetery, Kent City. PARMETER (Cedar Springs) Elijah Dean Parmeter age 81 passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 25, 2013. He served his country during Korea in the Army National Guard. He retired after 30 years at the Sparta Foundry where he was active in the Union, Workmans Compensation Board and played and coached with the Sparta Foundry Softball Team. He was preceded in death by his parents, William, Clara, and stepmother, Dorothy; his wife, Barbara, in March of 2013; 2 grandchildren. TRAXLER (Sparta) Mary Letitia (Hawley)Traxler, age 87, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 with her family by her side. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Donna and Stub Hawley. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Burton M. Traxler; daughters, Janet (Chuck) Majewski, Marlene (Ron) Overholt, Pamela (Dale) Gender, Priscilla (Lance) Fisher, Gayle (Don) Traxler-Neuman; grandchildren, Wayne (Chasity)Murray, Renae (Bryan)MacKinnon, Paula Crandell, Hudson (Nancy) Overholt, Tiffany (Dan) Hubert, Lindsey Gender, Carley Gender, Letitia Vannatter, Trenton Kik, Aaron Fisher, Travis Neuman, Kersten Neuman; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. Mary graduated from Sand Lake High School and then went to cosmetology school in Grand Rapids, MI. After working for several local companies, she retired from General Formulations in 1987. Mary and Burt loved spending time at their cottage in Big Bend with family and friends. They were also life time members of the Eagles Club. She was very involved with her daughters and grandchildren’s everyday lives. Mary was a strong, understanding and humorous woman. She will be remembered for loving life and always laughing. Glenna Rose Brown
Glenna Rose (Towns) Brown age 72 of Cedar Springs, Michigan, left her earthly home on May 22, 2013 and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her family members, George Towns, June Swett Long, Lola Bradner and Arthur Olson. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward; daughters, Sherry & David Brown, Billie & Kirk Freeland; grandchildren, Bethany, Justin, Lauren , Sylvia; aunt, Bernice Cooper; many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and a loving church family at Kent City Baptist Church. After graduating from Kent City High School in 1959, she worked in the offices at Wolverine World Wide for three years. In addition to being a homemaker, she returned to college to earn her elementary teaching degree. Teaching was her passion. She loved her 20 years of teaching at Algoma Christian Schools and continued to stay busy substitute teaching in Kent City and Sparta after her retirement. She enjoyed staying in contact with her former students and being a part of their lives. She also stayed busy with several other hobbies including attending activities of her grandchildren, baking and gardening. She would often pick extra fruit and vegetables to deliver to neighbors and friends. She also loved to travel with her husband including trips to Finland, Portugal, Alaska and Europe. She wasn’t happy unless she was helping others whether it was her family or volunteering with her church. An active part of Kent City Baptist Church her whole life, she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, Awana Leader, and served on the Missions Committee as well as taking several missions trips with her husband. The family wishes to thank everyone for all their prayers and support during her illness. Friends may meet the family at Kent City Baptist Church on Thurs, May 23, 7-9 pm and Friday, May 24, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The celebration of her life will be at Kent City Baptist Church on Saturday, May 25, at 11:00 with Rev. Chris Weeks officiating. Interment in Solon Township Cemetery.
